
BTS’s hit song “Spring Day” has been recognized as a timeless classic. On October 8, U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone released its list of the ‘250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century,’ with “Spring Day” ranking 37th, the highest placement for any Korean song.
Rolling Stone praised the track, writing, “‘Spring Day” is a signature song from BTS, one of the biggest pop groups of the 21st century. Its expression of healing and hope amid loss delivers a transcendent resonance.”
Originally released in February 2017 as the lead single of BTS’s repackage of their second studio album, “Spring Day” blends Brit-rock and electronic sounds into an alternative hip-hop track. The lyrics reflect personal experiences of members RM and SUGA, adding emotional depth to its universal theme of longing and comfort. The magazine also highlighted that “Spring Day” played a pivotal role in BTS’s rise to global stardom. It stated, “This song showcases the strong cohesion in their music.”
The song was a major hit in South Korea, becoming the first track in Melon’s history to surpass one billion cumulative streams. It remained on daily charts for nearly eight years and holds the record for the longest-running entry in Melon history. Internationally, “Spring Day” also made an impact on the U.S. charts. On the Billboard 200 album chart dated March 4, 2017, it debuted at No. 61 and remained on the chart for two consecutive weeks, earning widespread love from global fans.
BTS is reportedly preparing for a comeback in spring 2026, with plans to release a new album and launch a major world tour next year.
