BTS Jimin’s “Like Crazy” Dialogue Is Not Actually From The Film Of The Same Name—Here’s The Full Story

Before BTS Jimin‘s solo album FACE was released, he teased that the title song, “Like Crazy,” was inspired by one of his favorite films, which led ARMYs to believe it was The Notebook since he has mentioned it many times before…

Since then, he has talked about the 2011 American romance drama film Like Crazy influenced his song of the same name. Now knowing this, ARMYs could see many references in both the song and music video.

Still, there is one aspect of the song that some mistook. The dialogue in “Like Crazy” is not actually from the movie, contrary to popular belief.

Rather than the original film actress, Felicity Jones, it was voice actress Shelby Young. She boasts 3.5M followers on TikTok!

Shelby shared a video on TikTok after realizing “Like Crazy” had been released. She excitedly revealed that it was her voice saying, “I think we could last forever. Just trust me.”

I didn’t know this was coming out tonight! But you know Jimin from BTS? Well, he just topped his solo album and a music video for his new song ‘Like Crazy,’ and does the voice at the beginning sound familiar to you? …This is my first foray into the K-Pop world in any capacity. I’m so stoked!

Naturally, ARMYs were curious about how she got the job. So, Shelby did a brief storytime on TikTok.

Basically, I just got an email from my manager in January saying that Jimin’s label reached out and requested me for the voiceover, which is wild.

Shelby also shared that she referred her friend, Joe Brogie, to do the male part. He also recently shared a video on his social media, revealing himself as the man’s voice in “Like Crazy.”

Something that was so cool is that I got to get my buddy Joe on board for the male part. The label basically just said if I had any male voiceover friends to bring them along.

Shelby clarified that the dialogue was also original for the song rather than straight from the movie. However, they were sent an audio sample from the movie to replicate the characters’ tones.

We were sent a script and then audio sample from the movie Like Crazy just to kind of match the tone, but it was original dialogue for the song.

The actors were able to work from home but worked together via Zoom. Shelby concluded her story by expressing gratitude to Jimin, BIGHIT MUSIC, and, of course, ARMY.

Joe and I have our own home studios to record voiceover, so we just hopped in our booths, got on Zoom to like work together, did a few takes, sent it off, and now it’s in the song. So thankful to Jimin and BIGHIT MUSIC for this opportunity.
