BTS member Jimin has silently made a significant contribution of 100 million KRW (75,301 USD) to the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education.
This was discovered on August 24 when a post titled ‘A notice of donation by Jimin’ appeared on an online forum. The author of the post, who disclosed themselves as a teacher in the Chungbuk region, expressed their awe and pride at Jimin’s donation.
The poster, who identified themselves as a teacher in the Chungbuk region, wrote, “Yesterday, I received a donation-related letter from the school where I work, It was an announcement that Jimin had donated,” and added, “I felt so overwhelmed with joy that I decided to post about it here.“
They continued, “I don’t think he only donated to Chungbuk; he probably donated nationwide. Jimin is truly amazing.”
In addition to the post, the author included a photograph of the donation letter they had received. This correspondence, named ‘Nation-wide Public Document,’ was dispatched by the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education’s Citizen and Human Rights Bureau to all schools and educational libraries in the province.
The donation letter identified BTS’s Jimin as the benefactor and informed the institutions that each would receive 10 million KRW (~7,533.13 USD) for book purchases (school development funds). The Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education requested a response regarding the use of the funds.
It was revealed that BTS’s Jimin has donated a total of 100 million KRW (75,331.31 USD), 10 million KRW each to 10 educational institutions within the province, including schools and libraries.
The Provincial Office of Education intends to utilize this generous donation to boost student book purchases and launch programs relating to reading education. An official from the Provincial Office of Education said, “While the donor did not desire publicity for their charitable act, we will strive to nurture students’ character by advocating various books, including humanities classics, to ensure that the donor’s benevolent intention is accurately conveyed.”
In the past, Jimin has also made generous contributions, such as the scholarship donated to the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education’s Gangwon Education Scholarship Society, reportedly valued at around 100 million KRW. Furthermore, he has made steady and impactful donations to organizations such as the Jeollanamdo and Busan Provincial Offices of Education and to philanthropic causes like polio patients and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, thereby setting an inspiring example.
Netizens were impressed with Jimin for consistently donating to schools and educational facilities.
