The ‘2023 Billboard Music Awards,’ one of the three major music award ceremonies in the United States, will be held.
On the 20th of November, at 10 a.m Korean Standard Time (KST), the ‘2023 Billboard Music Awards’ will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA. This year’s ceremony will be conducted virtually.
During the ceremony, awards will be presented in 69 categories, with BTS’s Jimin nominated in the ‘Top Selling Song’ category; FIFTY FIFTY in the ‘Top Duo/Group’ category; and NewJeans in the ‘Top Billboard Global Artist (excluding the USA)’ category.
Notably, starting with this year’s ceremony, four new K-pop categories have been introduced:
‘Top Global K-Pop Artist,’ ‘Top K-Pop Tour,’ ‘Top K-Pop Album,’ and ‘Top Global K-Pop Song.’
In the ‘Top Global K-Pop Artist’ category, BTS’ Jimin, NewJeans, Stray Kids, TXT, and TWICE have been nominated. BLACKPINK, BTS’s SUGA, and TWICE have been nominated for the ‘Top K-Pop Tour.’
For the ‘Top K-Pop Album,’ nominees include BTS’s Jimin, NewJeans, Stray Kids, TXT, and TWICE.
Candidates for the ‘Top Global K-Pop Song’ include FIFTY FIFTY’s ‘Cupid,’ Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy,’ Jungkook’s ‘Seven,’ and NewJeans’ ‘Ditto’ and ‘OMG.’
Jimin has been nominated in a total of four categories: ‘Top Billboard Global Artist,’ ‘Top Selling Song,’ ‘Top Global K-Pop Artist,’ and ‘Top K-Pop Album.’ He is the first K-pop solo artist to be nominated in the ‘Top Selling Song’ category.
Furthermore, Stray Kids follows BTS as the second K-pop boy group to perform at the ‘Billboard Music Awards,’ with NewJeans being the first K-pop girl group to do so.
Stray Kids will showcase the title tracks ‘Thunderous’ from their third album ‘Noeasy’ and ‘ROCK’ from their new album ‘Oddinary.’ NewJeans will perform ‘Super Shy’ and ‘OMG,’ both of which have charted on the ‘Hot 100.’
