BTS‘s Jungkook always keeps his promises!
In May of this year, Jungkook shared his plans on how he would like to cut his hair for his inevitable enlistment during a livestream.
Rather than cutting all my hair suddenly, I will gradually cut it shorter and shorter. It’s called ‘hair-lighting’ (play on words from gaslighting), and I will keep cutting my hair shorter until you guys all of a sudden ask, ‘What, when did his hair become so short? When did he buzz his hair?’ And so I will make it so that (my short haircut) feels natural.

Jungkook’s plan has steadily been in motion since the opening of the 2022 World Cup.
Soon after, he debuted trimmed bangs and a hair perm.
As time went on through his livestreams, he sported a slightly shorter and more layered hairstyle.
By the time his Calvin Klein promotions began, Jungkook was rocking a mullet.
In time for his solo promotions in June, his hair appeared drastically shorter.
Little by little, his hair got shorter in July…
…and then even shorter by August!
By September, his hair had completely changed…
…and in October, he was sporting a full-on short haircut.
By the time November rolled around, he was back to his original length before growing out his hair.
At the end of November, he trimmed his bangs…
…and opted for the shortest haircut yet in December!
Most recently, Jungkook shared his shaved head for a split second during a livestream with the remaining members who have yet to enlist.
It seems Jungkook has succeeded in his “hair-lighting” plan!
