The wedding gift money amount that BTS member RM gave at the wedding of rapper Sleepy, formerly of TS Entertainment‘s hip-hop duo ‘Untouchable,‘ has recently come to light, drawing attention.
The comments were made during the KBS2 variety show ‘The Return of Superman,’ which aired on August 11.
In the episode, Sleepy recalled his wedding and revealed, “To be honest, the top contributor for the wedding gift money was RM. He sent one very large amount.” The specific amount was also mentioned—it was 10 million KRW (~7,298.53 USD).
DinDin, who was watching in the studio, added more details, saying, “RM heard about Sleepy’s wedding through a DM and asked for his bank account number. Sleepy initially said, ‘No need! No need!’ but then quickly sent his account number. Right after that, a ‘ding dong’ sound went off and 10 million KRW was deposited,” surprising everyone.
The story of how Sleepy and RM became acquainted was also shared.
According to DinDin, the two met while rapping in the underground scene. During that time, Bang Si Hyuk was looking for members for BTS and asked Sleepy to recommend a rapper to join the group.
RM has previously shared his views on wedding gifts. In 2022, during an appearance on the YouTube channel ‘Psick University’s show ‘Psick Show,’ RM confessed, “For someone with the title of a world star, wedding gift money is a real issue for me. I send a lot when I do, but if I don’t, I don’t send anything at all. Being ambiguous is the worst.“
Meanwhile, RM enlisted in the military on December 11th last year and is expected to be discharged on June 10th, 2025. He made headlines worldwide when he performed a saxophone piece at BTS member Jin‘s discharge ceremony on June 12th.
