Kim Taehyung, aka V from BTS, took home 3 awards at the 31st Hanteo Music Awards 2023!
On February 18, the 31st Hanteo Music Awards held the 2nd night of its ceremony at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. The award recognized the best artists and music releases from January to December 2023, primarily based on the records on the Hanteo Chart.
Taehyung was among the winners of the ‘Main Prize (Bonsang)’ as the ‘Artist of the Year.’ In their announcement, the Hanteo Music Awards highlighted Taehyung’s album sales record, stating:
“The first K-pop solo artist (V) to surpass 2 million first-time sales, an artist who captivated listeners around the world with his differentiated sensibility and fascinating vocals.”
This marks Taehyung’s second ‘Main Prize (Bonsang)’ award of the year, following his win at the 33rd Seoul Music Awards last month.
Taehyung also won 2 out of the 6 continents for the ‘Global Artist’ awards, for Europe and Africa.
When Taehyung debuted in September 2023, he made history with his debut EP ‘Layover,’ which became the 1st album by a solo artist to surpass 2 million copies on both the Hanteo and Circle (Gaon) charts.
He also became the first K-pop soloist in 23 years, since 2000, to sell over 2 million copies.
In addition, Taehyung also became the first solo artist to top the Hanteo Chart in three countries—US, Japan, and China.
