A fun part of watching any music show in the k-pop world is seeing who is awarded the grand prize of winning #1 for that week. It’s a huge accomplishment for the artist to show the popularity of the song and the artist, and as the competition is getting bigger and bigger, it’s even more meaningful to win a #1 in this day and age.
Another fun aspect of awaiting the #1 announcement is seeing the encore ceremony that artists promise before the announcement. The artist decides on a special ceremony/promise that they will deliver during the encore promise, and it’s usually a small promise, but it’s always fun and cute to see them deliver their promise to the fans!
Today, we’ll be checking out a few strange, yet unique encore ceremonies and promises that artists have delivered that are just so grand that they are worth mentioning. Of course, every #1 is special and meaningful, but some groups have just gone the extra mile to deliver a special gift to fans, and they seem rejoiceful in doing it because they did achieve that #1! SEVENTEEN – Health “Clap” Video Production
When SEVENTEEN was nominated for #1, they promised to make a “Health Clap” video to promote a healthy life for their lovely Carats, but it was a great way to make a PSA for health overall!
TWICE – Singing with an Ice Cube
When TWICE was nominated for #1 for “Dance The Night Away,” they promised that they would sing their encore while having an ice cube in their mouths. The promise came to reality when they were awarded on KBS Music Bank, and yes, it was a challenge for these ladies, but boy, they looked absolutely amazing even with ice cubes!
MONSTA X – Stripping Encore
MONSTA X went crazy for their fans when they started stripping their stage outfits one-by-one when they won #1. The boys undoing their ties was something that was irresistible to fans!
Chungha – Dancing with the Manager
Chungha showed a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration with her very own manager when she was awarded #1. She said she would do the encore with her manager, and that was delivered perfectly! Who knew even her manager was talented in dancing?
BTOB- Cheek Rubbing Encore
We already knew BTOB were jokesters and clowns, but they showed their goofy side once again when they promised that their #1 ceremony would be cheek-rubbing against one another. And once they got the #1, they did it passionately with all their strength!
BTS – Drinking water from the trophy
Who remembers when BTS put water into the trophy cup and started drinking water out of it? A great way to stay hydrated and also drink some great H2O! We miss seeing BTS on music shows!
MAMAMOO – Ramyun Mukbang Ceremony
MAMAMOO, well known for their love for food, portrayed their love even on Show! Music Core when they decided that the best way to celebrate their win was through a ramyun mukbang. Damn, that ramyun looks delicious!
SF9 – Bungee Jumping
SF9 took the #1 ceremony to a whole new level when they decided that they would go bungee jumping to celebrate their win! Three of the SF9 members showed their bungee jumping experience to celebrate the well-deserved win, and the bungee jumping was just as thrilling as the win.
NU’EST – Making a Domino
NU’EST also had a creative mind when they built a heart made with dominoes for their #1 celebration on M! Countdown! What a wholesome way to celebrate the win!
These groups are just getting more and more creative with their #1 ceremony, and we love to see it!
