Debate emerges whether it's too early for fans to put up support ads for BTS's SUGA

By A.R.M.Y AllKpop 27/09/2024

A few BTS fans have paid for display advertisements in support of SUGA at locations around the popular I’PARK Mall and Yongsan Station.

The announcement was made on September 23 and it was revealed that two large billboard advertisements would be displayed on the walls near  Exit 1 and Exit 2 of Yongsan Station and the station square, to show their support for SUGA following his involvement in a recent DUI scandal.

However, this has sparked a debate among Korean netizens, with many questioning whether it’s too early for such public displays of support. Not only that, some pointed out that SUGA looked intoxicated in the photo they chose for the advertisement.

One netizen pointed out, “They say fans are putting up ads at Yongsan Station. Some people are saying he looks drunk (in the photo).”

Korean netizens commented:

“He does look super drunk.”

“Are these fans his anti-fans?”

“I don’t think SUGA would appreciate this.”

“Isn’t this too soon?”

“If they’re domestic fans, they should know that doing this will only make him get criticized more, but no one’s stopping them? LOL. Thanks to the international fans, Suga himself and the domestic fans are now embarrassed…”

“Subway ads can be taken down if you file a complaint over the phone.”

“Why did they edit the photo like that? They know what the controversy is about, so it’s not like they’re trolling…”

“I wish they would just disappear from Yongsan completely.”

“Defending a drunk-driving idol feels like something similar to supporting a criminal. They’re really not thinking straight.”

“It really seems like they’ve had a few drinks themselves…”

“Of all things, they choose a picture where he looks drunk. LOL. ‘This is the drunk driver,’ and they’re putting up an ad for him. LOL.”

“Why would a DUI be something people should comfort someone over…”
