Originally working with the ballad group 2AM, makeup artist Han Hyun Jae also accepted a partnership to work with BTS before they debuted and years afterward. Though he no longer works with the group, he reflected on the makeup styles that best suit each BTS member.
1. V
For V, it didn’t take much for a makeup artist to accentuate his handsome visuals. Han Hyun Jae warned that the idol looks best with minimal makeup that brightens but casts enough shadow to emphasize his sharp features.
V is just so handsome. Brightening up his face tone is the main work because his face is beautiful.
Shadowing can be better than putting strong eye makeup. If you add many lines, it can be too much, because his face is already sharp enough.

2. Jimin
To emphasize Jimin’s naturally alluring look, Han Hyun Jae would draw attention to the idol’s eyes by drawing lines to make them appear larger.
Jimin has a mysterious face. I tried to highlight his sexy mood. Since he doesn’t have double eyelids, I used to emphasize his eyes with lines to make his eyes bigger.

3. Jungkook
While it’s difficult for some people to pull off facial accessories and colorful looks, that wasn’t true for Jungkook. Han Hyun Jae confirmed that those were always perfect choices for Jungkook.
Jungkook also has a very beautiful face. Colors and [accessories] look good on him.

4. Jin
With Mr. Worldwide Handsome, Han Hyun Jae admitted that the idol didn’t need much makeup at all. Whenever he did Jin’s makeup, he put as little as possible.
Jin has the pure and clean look on stage—as well as off stage. I think putting less on his face highlights his beauty.
When we worked on smoky makeup or something manly, it was best to put less on his face.

5. RM
Since BTS’s pre-debut days, leader RM wasn’t afraid to take risks and did the same with his makeup style. Han Hyun Jae revealed that RM was the member who could pull off any and every look.
RM was willing to try new things. For example, the ice cream [accessories] or heavy smoky makeup. He looks strangely very good with everything we try. He is the one who fits perfectly [with] whatever we try.

6. Suga
Because Suga makes hearts flutter with his smile, Han Hyun Jae loved emphasizing the rapper’s softer side with freckles.
Suga has a very beautiful smiling face. His voice or actions are so manly, but his smiley face is so cute.
I don’t think this picture shows it that well, but we put freckles on his cheeks too.

7. J-Hope
Like RM, J-Hope was another member with a versatile look. He could pull off any makeup style. That’s why Han Hyun Jae personally preferred when the rapper went for a bolder look.
These are fake lashes, and they sort of look like a tattoo. He looks good with whatever we try, but I specifically loved this image of him. His chin is slightly curved, which made him look good with this style.
