On September 8, BTS’s V reportedly broke records, soaring to solo stardom as ‘Layover‘ set a new Hanteo record as the highest-selling album by a solo artist for first-day sales.
According to Hanteo Chart, V’s physical album ‘Layover,’ released at 1 PM on September 8, sold approximately 1.02 million copies of the regular version and around 310,000 copies of the Weverse version by 5:07 PM on the same day.
However, the reports were overturned when Hanteo Chart released a statement claiming that it had overcounted ‘Layover’ Weverse album edition.

Hanteo Chart announced, “The real-time sales volume of ‘V (BTS) – Layover, Weverse Albums ver.’ on September 8 was overcounted due to violation of KPOPMERCH regulations, and a correction notice was issued after reviewing the entire actual sales volume.”
Along with the statement, the Hanteo Chart revealed the new sales number, which was cut down severely, eliminating numerous album sales (770,000) from the sales report.

This prompted fans to rise with anger in various social media outlets such as X, where the hashtag #HanteoCorrupt trended.
