Global Cyber University to take firm stance against ‘Cult Allegations'

By A.R.M.Y AllKpop 30/04/2024

Global Cyber University has announced its intention to take legal action against recent allegations of cult involvement.

On the 30th, the university stated, “We will take strong legal measures against malicious defamation.”

Amidst claims circulating on YouTube and social media linking Global Cyber University to a cult organization, suspicions have arisen regarding BTS members who graduated from the university.

The founder of the university, former president Lee Seung-heon, is known to be associated with the religious meditation group Dahn World.

Global Cyber University emphasized, “BTS members were scouted through auditions by Big Hit Entertainment in 2010 and debuted in 2013. Their enrollment predates their debut or occurred shortly after, making it unreasonable to associate them with any specific organization.”

Furthermore, the university warned against posts that undermine the efforts and reputation of faculty members who have worked tirelessly for the education and welfare of students over the past 14 years. They pledged to take strong legal action against such misinformation affecting the university, current students, and alumni.

Global Cyber University, established in 2010 and licensed by the Ministry of Education as a four-year remote learning institution, is located in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do. Suga enrolled in March 2013, followed by RM and J-Hope in 2014, V and Jimin in 2015, and Jungkook in 2017, all of whom obtained bachelor’s degrees from the university.

Both Global Cyber University and Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, have taken a strong stance against malicious rumors. On the 28th, Big Hit Music stated via the fan communication platform Weverse, “We have detected organized attempts to undermine and defame BTS’s reputation.” They emphasized their commitment to taking rigorous legal action to address these serious breaches of the artists’ honor, in addition to their ongoing legal efforts.
