As K-Pop grows globally, crimes against K-Pop celebrities also are increasing.
It was reported by Korean media outlet TenAsia on August 28, 2023, that a group of Indonesian hackers created a Telegram channel called OP BTS, aiming to sell the private information of BTS members.
OP stands for “operation,” and they uploaded a sales post for the phone numbers of the BTS members. They solicited the numbers in exchange for cash. Their target would be fans who wish to gain information about their favorite celebrities.
Currently, the news has not spread to international waters. HYBE has also yet to respond to the matter. Stay tuned for more information about this matter.
