Jimin‘s lead single ‘WHO‘ from his sophomore album ‘MUSE’ is consistently exceeding expectations in performance in the largest music market in the world, the USA, despite not having any good playlisting, a Western feature, or active promotions on the market. It has now been 10 weeks since its release, and the song keeps registering new unprecedented records week after week, as seen from the impeccable performance on the Billboard Hot 100, Spotify USA Daily and Weekly Songs chart, RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Certifications and more.
On September 30, it was reported that ‘WHO’ had now sold over 1 Million units in the USA, making it eligible for RIAA Platinum certification. ‘WHO’ achieved this huge feat in just 74 days, thereby clinching the record as the fastest solo song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist in history to achieve this milestone, beating the previous record of 143 days by Jungkook’s ‘Standing Next To You.’ It is also the fastest song of 2024 by an Asian act to achieve this.
This becomes Jimin’s second song as a solo artist to achieve this milestone, after ‘Like Crazy’ which reached the feat in 153 days, making it the 3rd fastest solo song by a K-pop soloist to achieve this, as of current standing.
Previously, on August 21, ‘Like Crazy’ was also reported to have now surpassed the 2 Million sales units mark, making it eligible for RIAA Double Platinum certification.
‘Like Crazy’ now becomes the first and only solo song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist to achieve this in the past decade.
Looking at the biggest singles chart in the world, the Billboard Hot 100, Jimin is leaving his mark here as well.
‘WHO’ has achieved the highest ranking for any K-pop solo artist’s song on its 10th week on the Hot 100 chart, placing at 30th. It consistently held the top spot for any K-pop soloist from its 2nd to 10th week on the chart.
It is the first and only song by a Korean/K-pop soloist to rank within the Top 30 of the chart for 8 weeks, and within the Top 40 of the chart for 10 weeks!
On Spotify USA (and Spotify is the world’s largest music streaming platform by number of users), Jimin’s ‘WHO’ has not left the Top 10 of the Daily Top Songs and the Weekly Top Songs chart ever since its release.
‘WHO’ becomes the first and only song by a Korean/K-pop Act in history to spend 10 weeks in the Top 10 of Spotify USA Weekly Top Songs chart.
In other news, Jimin has now surpassed 10 Billion audio on-demand streams globally, becoming only the second K-pop solo artist in history to do so.
Jimin’s second album has been even more successful than his first, and if this growth rate is anything to go by, then the third album will be reporting even more jaw-dropping records in record time! His fans simply cannot wait to witness more history from him.
Congratulations Jimin!
