For years, Jimin has been a shining star, thriving on Spotify as a Korean/K-pop soloist since before his official solo debut. For instance, he has the most streamed solo songs/B-sides, namely ‘Filter‘ and ‘Lie‘ from BTS’ ‘MOTS:7’ (2020) and ‘WINGS’ (2016) albums, respectively, a feat that he achieved with no active solo promotions. Now that he has officially debuted as a soloist, he is shining even brighter than ever before, achieving certain milestones that no other Korean solo artist has ever achieved on Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform.
For example, on releasing his first solo album, he became the first and only Korean solo artist to reach #1 on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart and to reach Top 5 on Spotify USA Daily Top Songs chart, as well as earning the biggest debut for a Korean solo song by a Korean solo artist in numerous country charts including on big music markets like USA, UK and France among others [refer here and here]. Three months later, the records are still pouring in as he reaches new milestones with different releases.
For one, as of the Spotify update on June 6, Jimin’s first western collaboration project, ‘Angel Pt.1‘ OST for the Fast X soundtrack, spent its 20th day inside the Top 50 songs on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs, making it the longest charting OST by a Korean act in the Top 50 of this chart.
Secondly, as of the Spotify update on June 19, ‘Like Crazy‘ spent its 80th day inside the Top 50 on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart, making it the longest charting song by a Korean solo artist on this chart, not just among the 2023 releases but in history. While including group songs, ‘Like Crazy’ is currently 7th among the longest charting songs by Korean acts in the Top 50 of this chart.
As of the update on June 18, ‘Like Crazy’ spent its 87th day on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart (including days it was not in the top 50), to become the longest-charting Korean solo song by a Korean solo artist, and the 3rd longest charting song by a K-pop solo artist on the chart.
Meanwhile, ‘Like Crazy’ has now surpassed 250 million streams on Spotify, becoming the fastest solo song by a Korean solo artist to reach this milestone. Both versions of ‘Like Crazy’ have exceeded 400 million streams.
