It has been a full week since Jimin officially released his solo debut album ‘FACE‘, and as different countries continue to release their weekly top charts, it is becoming more and more apparent that Jimin is a global icon with unrivaled impact. His album and the main and B-side tracks have all been making their debut and ranking high on different key charts in various countries across the globe, and in some cases, even making an entry into some charts where no other K-pop soloist has ever entered! So far, he has made history on official music charts in key music markets in the world like Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, USA, Italy, and the UK, to mention a few.
His achievements in the UK are especially ones to celebrate, marvel at, and be proud of since the country has one of the toughest charts to crack with their extremely high entry barriers, even for local artists. Yet, he as a foreign artist, is recording highly respectable results. For instance, his pre-release track ‘Set Me Free Pt.2‘ already made history as the highest charting song by an individual K-pop soloist on the UK Official Singles Chart when it charted at #30. Now the biggest, most challenging and most important music chart in the UK has been released, and Jimin continues to make history in this country, the 3rd largest music market in the world.
Om March 31, the UK Official Singles chart released the ranking for the week, and Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy’ ranked #8 on this chart. This made the song the highest-debuting single by a K-pop soloist in the chart’s history, as well as the first and only Top 10 entry!
Overall, he now becomes the 2nd highest debuting Korean act in the chart’s history, only behind his group BTS!
With ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’ at #30 and ‘Like Crazy’ at #8, Jimin also made history and became the first and only Korean soloist to debut 2 songs inside the Top 30 on the Official singles chart, and thus he holds the top 2 highest song debuts for any Korean soloist on the chart in history.
‘Like Crazy’ also made its debut at #1 on the UK Official Singles Download chart, with a reported 14k downloads, which is over 3.6 times more downloads than the next song, and #2 on the UK Official Single Sales chart only because the top song had the advantage of physical CDs!
Looking at the UK Big Top 40 chart, another major music chart in the country, Jimin made more history here as well. Both ‘Set Me Free Pt.2‘ and ‘Like Crazy‘ debuted on this chart at #4, thereby earning Jimin the the record of the first and only Korean soloist to have 2 songs rank inside the Top 5 of this chart this decade!
Once again, he joined his own group BTS as the only Korean acts to earn multiple (two each) top 5 entries onto this chart!
Both songs, ‘Like Crazy’ and ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, also debuted at #2 and #7, respectively, on the UK Official Trending Charts Top 20.
On iTunes, Jimin became the first and only Korean soloist to have 5 songs reach #1 on UK iTunes.
Jimin’s songs also did very well on the UK Apple Music ranking for the K-pop genre, peaking at #1 and #2.
Previously, reports had already shown that Jimin also broke the record for the highest debut streams for any Korean soloist on Spotify UK in history.
Therefore, the impressive performance in iTunes sales and in Apple Music and Spotify streaming absolutely warranted the high rankings on the major music charts in the country.
Fans are over the moon to see Jimin take over the world and dominate such big and competitive music markets with his first-ever solo album that is in a foreign language! They have nothing but praise for him and are happy that his artistry is appreciated all over the world.
