Jimin has now been dubbed the ‘King of iTunes’ due to his unprecedented performance on the platform with his solo releases.
For example, his first project outside of BTS, ‘With You,’ which was a duet performance with Ha Sungwoon, became the fastest song to achieve #1 in 100 countries, doing so in just over 4 hours and thus breaking the record previously held by BTS’ ‘Dynamite.’ It then later went on to become the first and only song in the history of iTunes to achieve #1 in every country that has the iTunes service, which currently stands at 119 countries.
His single’Like Crazy’ then broke the record for the most #1s in the first 24 hours of release, after topping iTunes charts in 112 countries just before the 24-hour mark, which also made it the fastest song in history to reach this milestone!
Previously, this record was held by ‘With You’ after it had achieved #1 in 107 countries in the first 24 hours, but was later broken by ‘Set Me Free Pt.2,’ which achieved #1 in 111 countries in the first 24 hours, and now ‘Like Crazy’ took this record.
In fact, Jimin not only holds the top 3 spots on the ranking for songs achieving the most #1s on iTunes in the first 24 hrs , but also has the top 3 spots in the ranking for fastest songs to achieve #1 in 100 countries, with ‘With You,’ ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’ and ‘Like Crazy’ in that order.
Additionally, his solo song ‘Filter‘ under BTS’ discography holds the record as the B-side track that has achieved #1 on iTunes in most countries in history, standing at 117 countries currently.
It is also the only BTS song that has achieved this many #1s on iTunes in the history of the group’s career.
Aside from ‘With You,’ ‘Set Me Free Pt.2,’ ‘Like Crazy,’ and ‘Filter,’ Jimin also has another song that has peaked at #1 on iTunes charts in 102 countries, which is ‘VIBE‘ by Taeyang (ft Jimin).
Now on May 22, Jimin’s latest release in collaboration with four other artists, ‘Angel Pt.1‘, attained #1 in 100 total countries, making him the first and only artist in the world to reach #1 on iTunes in at least 100 countries with four songs, in 2023.
In total, he now has six songs achieving at least 100 #1s on iTunes, making him the first and only artist in the history of iTunes to reach such a feat!
Even while excluding ‘Filter,’ which is not under his solo artist profile, he still remains the soloist with the most songs reaching #1 in at least 100 countries in history, with five songs.
Currently, only ‘Like Crazy,’ ‘With You,’ and ‘Filter’ have achieved #1 on iTunes in at least 117 countries, making Jimin the first and only artist in the world to have 3 songs with this many iTunes #1s.
