Over the past few years, Jimin has become known as a ‘media darling’ as both domestic and international media outlets tend to shower him with lots of love and praise.
For example, when BTS has a performance or attends an important event, Jimin is sometimes specifically highlighted by the media in news reports regarding the group’s activities, such as during BTS’ many concerts or when the group visited the White House. Additionally, whenever he is associated withsomething outside of the group, the media also runs numerous articles of praise and love, showing his global insurmountable popularity as witnessed during the selection of his self-produced song for an OST in Marvel’s ‘Eternals’, his participation in ‘Angel Pt.1’ OST for Fast and Furious 10 movie and his explosive impact on boosting Jeju’s tourism following his visit to the Island, among many other occasions.
The case has been the same in the most recent occurrence as reported previously, where Ryan Gosling, who plays ‘Ken’ in the ‘Barbie’ movie, sent Jimin a special message for having worn the same outfit as Jimin previously wore. Ryan offered Jimin a guitar as his most prized possession to make up for wearing the same outfit as him, terming it as an unspoken ‘Ken-code’.
Much to the fans’ delight, Jimin indeed received the guitar from Ryan and responded to his message in a video of his own, thanking him for the guitar and for featuring his outfit in the movie!

This was especially thrilling for fans who have always joked that Jimin can be Barbie but now he can also be Ken, taking it as an acknowledgement that he indeed exists in Barbie’s world.
With Jimin’s massive popularity especially in Hollywood [refer here] coupled with the fact that the ‘Barbie’ movie is the biggest movie in the world currently, major media outlets picked the story and published numerous articles on it, some even publishing the same story multiple times for the level of attention that the story was getting around the world!
As previously reported, a good number of news articles covered Ryan’s message to Jimin [read here] but since then, even more articles have reported on the story especially after Jimin responded to him with a video of his own.
The story has been reported by Korean TV News Channels, several radio stations in the USA, several reputable media outlets like CNN, Rolling Stone, NME, Access Hollywood, Billboard, GMA, Entertainment Tonight, Warner Bros, WWD, Entertainment Weekly, HuffPost, and iHeart Radio to mention a few. Many of the outlets published the story multiple times across their different branches, a show of how big a story it was in the global entertainment world.
Other music and film update accounts on social media also posted about this news, further showing that this was the center topic of discussion not just in the global music sphere but also in the global film segment.
Nothing speaks ‘impact’ more than receiving such extensive media coverage simply for being offered a gift and responding to accept it.
