Jimin’s consistently superb performance on global music streaming platforms with his debut hit single ‘Like Crazy’ is a strong testament to his widespread appeal to the global audience with his music.
As a solo artist, he has already cemented his name as a legendary K-pop soloist given his big historical records, such as being the first Korean solo artist to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Artist 100, and Billboard Japan Artist 100, among many other jaw-dropping feats. Till now, ‘Like Crazy’ remains the only Korean solo song to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and Jimin remains the only Korean soloist to reach #1 on the Billboard Artist 100 and Billboard Japan Artist 100. It is now close to 10 months after the song’s release and it is still registering major feats in sales and streams, particularly on Spotify, the world’s #1 music streaming platform.
‘Like Crazy’ has consistently ranked on Spotify’s Global Daily Top Songs chart since its release. This chart ranks 200 of the most streamed songs worldwide each day. Presently, ‘Like Crazy’ holds the record as the longest-charting solo song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist in the Top 50 of the chart with 162 days as of the chart dated Jan 17. It also ranks #2 among the longest charting solo songs by Asian soloists in the Top 50 of the chart, and the 4th longest charting song by Korean/K-pop acts in the Top 50 of the chart.
Looking at the overall ranking of ‘Like Crazy‘ on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart, the song has now spent over 300 days on the chart as the first solo song by a Korean/K-pop soloist or the longest charting solo song by a Korean/K-pop soloist to achieve this feat. The only other song by a K-pop soloist that has achieved this same milestone is an English collaboration song, ‘Left and Right’. With this milestone, Jimin joins Joji as the only Asian solo artists in history to have a solo song spend 300 days on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart.
As of the latest chart update on Feb 1, ‘Like Crazy’ now has 314 days on this chart, extending its record as the longest-charting solo song by a Korean/K-pop soloist on the chart.
‘Like Crazy’ performed exceptionally well on Spotify, ending the year among the Top 10 most streamed songs of the year on the platform at #9 with over 777 Million streams, despite the fact that it did not have a full year of tracking (it was released on March 24) and did not have the advantage of tools like playlists, ads or radio that would have significantly expanded its audience to boost its accumulated streaming numbers like it was the case with most of the songs in the Top 10 of the list.
This achievement was even more impressive and meaningful considering the fact that there was no other Korean song on this list of Top 10 most streamed songs of 2023. ‘Like Crazy’ is now the first and only Korean song in history to ever make it onto the Top 10 of the most streamed year-end ranking by the platform.
As of Jan 31, the song has now amassed over 840 Million streams on the platform as the fastest Korean song and the fastest solo song by a Korean act to reach this milestone.
