“The Astronaut” by Jin was released on October 28, 2022, and keeps reaching new milestones every week.
On March 7, it came back to the Top 10 of Billboard World Digital Song Sales (#7). That marks its 9th week on the chart. Right now, it is the 3rd longest-running song released by a K-pop soloist. “The Astronaut” is also the longest #1 charting solo song on the said chart in this decade (3 weeks)!
“The Astronaut” demonstrated an astonishing performance on global charts despite the heavy competition. It demonstrated longevity on it as well.
Aside from scoring the highest solo debut on the Hot 100, Jin also had the highest first appearance there in the entire K-pop history. Jin achieved the biggest debut sales by a K-pop soloist on the Global Billboard 200 – 62k. Made it to the Top 5 of Digital Sales Debut Weeks in the US in 2022. Jin is the highest-peaking K-pop soloist on the Billboard Hot 100 in Japan this decade (#4) and the first foreign artist to top the Oricon Sales chart in the past 11 years. He became the first soloist to get a gold certificate for a single album on Circle (Gaon) after becoming a million-seller, even with the exclusion of sales from the USA and Europe. In Japan, he also received an RIA certification. Jin’s debut single was, no doubt, a big success!
