President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico has publicly shared a formal response from South Korean President Lee Jae Myung regarding her request to increase the number of BTS concert dates in her country. In a video posted to TikTok on February 20, 2026, Claudia Sheinbaum explained that she had previously asked the South Korean leader to consider additional performances to accommodate the overwhelming demand among Mexican youth. The Mexican president read the letter from President Lee Jae Myung aloud during the video, which highlighted the diplomatic and cultural significance of the request.

In the letter, President Lee Jae Myung acknowledged the growing depth of the relationship between South Korea and Mexico, built on mutual respect and trust between the two heads of state. He noted that the affection the Mexican public has for K-pop and general Korean culture is a clear indication of the strong cultural bonds between the two nations. The South Korean president confirmed that the official request for more tour dates has been formally relayed to the agency representing BTS. He clarified that while government involvement in the private-led cultural sector is limited, he expressed hope for a positive response regarding the matter.
The letter further expressed a desire for both nations to maintain close communication through diplomatic channels and for a future meeting between the two leaders. This follows a previous encounter between Lee Jae Myung and Claudia Sheinbaum during the G7 summit held in Canada in June 2025. Claudia Sheinbaum concluded her video by sharing footage of a BTS performance and encouraging citizens to remain hopeful for positive news.

According to international reports, the Mexican government had specifically requested an expansion of the concert schedule originally set for May 2026. BTS is currently slated to perform three shows on May 7, 9, and 10 at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City. The Mexican authorities have highlighted a significant disparity between supply and demand, stating that over one million people are seeking tickets for a total available capacity of only 150,000 seats across the three scheduled dates.
