Min Hee Jin’s boast about BTS’s V is leading to speculation of military privilege.
Former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin appeared on Kim Young Dae’s ‘School of Music‘ on October 29th KST, where she shared a story about BTS member V, mentioning, “V occasionally calls me from the military. He’s so bright and lively, and he reached out to check on me, asking if I was okay. On my birthday, he even sent me a celebratory message early in the morning. It was such a thoughtful gesture.”
V and Min grew close while working on V’s solo album before his enlistment. However, Min’s story, intended to highlight her friendship with V, has sparked concerns over potential privilege in his military service. A complaint alleging V received special treatment in the military has since been filed with the Ministry of National Defense.
One netizen questioned the message timing, noting, “Min Hee Jin’s birthday is December 16, five days after V’s enlistment on December 11, during his initial training period. The military’s strict phone policies make this suspicious, suggesting V might have been allowed privileges due to his fame.”
Other fans countered, suggesting it might have been a message from 2022, a scheduled text, or sent while on leave. However, the complainant argued, “Min clearly stated it was sent from the military during his training period. Recruits can only use their phones for one hour on weekends, making scheduled texts unlikely.”
The complainant also dismissed speculation that Min’s birthday might differ on record, citing December celebrations from other artists close to her. This issue may result in scrutiny, both for the veracity of Min’s story and potential special treatment for V. Ultimately, Min’s story may have unintentionally created trouble for V.
