President Lee Jae Myung and J.Y. Park, founder and head of JYP Entertainment as well as co-chair of the Presidential Council for Popular Culture Exchange, took a playful four-cut photo together at the council’s official launch event.
The ceremony was held on October 1 at KINTEX Exhibition Center II in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The Council for Popular Culture Exchange, a presidential advisory body, is co-chaired by J.Y. Park and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi Young, who both hold minister-level status.
During the event, President Lee and J.Y. Park visited the K-culture experience zone set up at the venue, where they stepped into a photo booth to take commemorative four-cut photos. Dressed in elegant hanbok, the two chose a frame featuring BTS leader RM, striking lighthearted poses together.
The photos were later shared on President Lee’s official social media, drawing attention for their cheerful display and the use of RM’s themed frame.
In his speech at the ceremony, President Lee emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting Korea’s cultural industries.
“The government will actively support our popular culture so that it can go beyond bringing joy, emotion, and empathy to people around the world, and grow into a core industry that carries the future of the Korean economy,” he said. He added, “We will strictly uphold the principle of ‘support without interference,’ ensuring that autonomy and creativity can fully flourish on the ground.”
