An idol from a pre-debut K-pop group is gaining attention for his visual similarities to a top K-pop star.
Recently, photos of Kwon Hyeop, a rapping member from HOWLING Entertainment‘s upcoming boy group WAKER, have made their way across online communities due to his likeliness to BTS’s V. He previously became known to the public through ‘Produce 101 Season 2,’ where he competed as a trainee under Maroo Entertainment alongside Wanna One’s Park Ji Hoon. He also graduated from the School of Performing Arts (SOPA).
One community post shared the images with the caption, “An idol who looks a little like BTS’s V.” Many who commented were surprised Kwon Hyeop was not actually V, saying things like, “Isn’t that V?,” “When I hadn’t read the caption yet, I thought it was really V,” “They’re really like twins. They look so much alike,” and “I thought I was looking at photos of V!”
However, others disagreed. Many said that only the first photos where he is wearing a patterned blazer looked like V, while the rest of the photos did not. Other comments included, “He looks like Park Shin Hye‘s husband (Choi Tae Joon),” “Let’s not do this,” “He just made his hair just like V’s,” and “If you watch a video of him, they’re not alike at all.” Some added that he looked more like a combination of V and another celebrity, like H.O.T‘s Kangta and ZEROBASEONE‘s Jiwoong.
