Check out some excerpts from the full interview below.

GQ: How have you been these days, V?
V: I’m fully focused on preparing the new album that will be released soon. It feels like very, very busy days are ahead!
GQ: Everyone is waiting for it.
V: That’s right. It’s been such a long time since both an album and concerts. So these days, I feel more often and more clearly that standing on stage is the biggest motivation in my life.

GQ: As a musician, as an icon, and as an artist who represents something—like on the cover of GQ—there are many roles expected of you. What kind of unseen efforts do you make to fulfill them?
V: Experiences. I willingly try to have as many different experiences as possible. Afterward, I reflect on which ones matched my own colors well. I think that whole process is a form of studying.
GQ: With what attitude do you move through those experiences?
V: I honestly just find it fun! It’s like role-playing—different personas seem to form naturally.
GQ: And in the end, what do you gain from meeting all those different personas?
V: It might sound cliché, but growth. And change. Through that growth, I’ve come to understand more clearly what I like and what I’m good at. Ultimately, I’ve gotten to know myself better—what kind of person I am.

GQ: What does beauty mean to you? What kind of beauty do you gravitate toward?
V: I think I naturally like classic and vintage beauty. I’ve always pursued it and expressed it often. At this point, it feels like a firm preference—almost a part of who I am. But I don’t cling to it. I’m always interested in the many different values that can be called “beautiful.”

GQ: This year marks BTS’s 13th debut anniversary. You’ve already achieved so much, but if there’s still a dream left—as a team or as V—what would it be?
V: Right now, I’m not thinking about anything other than concerts and the new album, but well, you have to have dreams. If I had to name one, it would be that the new album is loved by ARMY. Yes—that’s my dream.

GQ: As you prepare the new album, what dreams are you sharing with the members? Do those expectations ever feel heavy, given that it’s been a while since your comeback?
V: Of course, there are times when the weight of a comeback feels heavy. But more than anything, I’m trying to enjoy it! And because I want to look good for ARMY, I’m not thinking about anything else right now—just working hard on the preparations.

GQ: Please leave us with your honest wishes for 2026.
V: First, I hope ARMY can recognize the sincerity of this album. The new album, the comeback stages, the concerts—we’ll express everything we can show you, so I’d be grateful if you receive it just as it is. And one more thing: I want to keep staying by ARMY’s side. In a good way. Um… kind of 계속—hanging around you.
