Beyond Genres: BTS’s V Embraces Fluidity and Versatility in his “TYPE 非” Photobook

By A.R.M.Y AllKpop 21/01/2026

V of BTS showcases his versatility and artistic range in new photobook

On January 19, V released his latest photobook, “TYPE 非,” globally through Weverse Shop and other popular K-pop retailers.

BigHit Music described the project: “Discover the many faces of V, Kim Taehyung—an artist who cannot be confined to a single category. This 278-page hardcover photobook was created with the artist’s hands-on participation, from planning to photography, offering a detailed portrayal of his profound vision and artistic sensibility.”

V’s new photobook represents a clear artistic evolution from his 2024 release, “TYPE 1.”

While “TYPE 1” captured raw, unembellished moments of everyday life, “TYPE 非” explores the concept of non-fixity (非固定性), intentionally blurring the boundaries between form, identity, and genre.

”非” is a character that generally means “non-,” “not,” or “anti-.”

So, “TYPE 非” can be understood as “a type that is not fixed” or “a type beyond classification,” aligning with Taehyung’s intention to explore multiple personas, moods, and artistic expressions without being boxed into one identity.

Taehyung was directly involved in every stage of the project—from initial planning to the full photoshoot—infusing his personal sensibility throughout all 278 pages. Composed of 20 chapters that unfold as a single, cohesive narrative, the photobook highlights his versatility and ability to embody a wide range of moods and concepts with striking ease.
