BTS SUGA sets multiple new records as a Rapper and Tops Album Charts Around The World With 'D-DAY'

By A.R.M.Y AllKpop 10/05/2023

BTS SUGA, who had his official Solo Debut on April 21 as Agust D, sold more than 1M copies in a single day on Hanteo, breaking an all-time record of the highest first-day sales for a Soloist.

Apart from his notable achievements on Billboard Charts, such as debuting at #2 on Billboard 200 (a tie with BTS Jimin), topping Billboard World Albums and Top Album Sales, SUGA broke numerous records on Albums Charts and Rap/Hip Hop genre-focused Charts around the world.

SUGA’s Most Significant Achievements as a Rapper:

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #1 on Billboard Top Rap Albums making SUGA the First Asian Act to reach that spot on the chart and the First to have multiple Top 10 entries (2).

‘D-Day‘ tracks debuted on both Billboard’s Rap Digital Song Sales and Hot Rap Songs, while the album itself achieved the

MINSUGAHQ

of an Album on its First Day.

‘D-Day‘ became the Biggest Debuting Rap Album in the History of the United World Chart since Drake in 2018. The album sold 849.000 equivalent sales.

Korean media recognized SUGA’s accomplishments on World Albums Charts that proved the idol’s global popularity. You can read about the most significant ones below.

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #1 on France’s Albums Chart, becoming the First Album by a K-Pop Soloist to top the chart in the country. BTS and SUGA are the Only K-Pop Acts to achieve this.

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #2 on the Austrian Albums Chart, making SUGA the highest-peaking Asian Soloist in the history of the chart.

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #1 on Belgium Wallonia Chart and became one of the three K-Pop albums that topped the chart. Previously, BTS’s ‘BE’ and ‘Proof’ debuted at #1.

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #9 on Billboard’s Canadian Albums Chart, making SUGA the highest charting K-Pop Soloist and one of the few K-Pop Acts to enter the Top 10.

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #3 on the German Albums Chart and became the highest-peaking album by an Asian Soloist as well.

‘D-Day‘ debuted at #7 on Italian Albums Chart, once again becoming the highest-peaking album by an Asian Soloist.

The success of SUGA’s Debut Album continued in Japan as ‘D-Day‘ debuted at #1 on Oricon’s Weekly Digital Albums, Western Albums, and Billboard Japan’s Download Albums Chart. The record reached the #2 spot on Oricon’s Albums and Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums.

SUGA became the First and Only K-Pop Soloist to Simultaneously Chart Multiple Albums on both Billboard Japan Hot Albums Chart & Download Albums Chart: Agust D, D-2 & D-Day.

In New Zealand ‘D-Day‘ reached the #7 spot, making the rapper the highest-peaking K-Pop Soloist in the chart’s history.

In the Netherlands SUGA extended his record from 2020 as both ‘D-Day‘ and ‘D-2‘ debuted at #16 position on Dutch Albums Chart, making him the highest-charting Asian Soloist.

The winning streak continued in Poland, where ‘D-Day‘ debuted at #1 on both Polish Albums and Polish Physical Albums Charts, the first time for an Asian Soloist in this European country.

SUGA‘s album received lots of love in Spain and Switzerland, where ‘D-Day‘ charted at #6 and #2, respectively, turning BTS member into the highest-peaking Asian Soloist in both countries.

In the UK, there’s no K-Pop Soloist that reached as high as Agust D on UK Albums Chart. ‘D-Day‘ debuted at #23, while ‘D-2‘ at #2.

What’s more, BTS SUGA still remains the highest-peaking Asian Soloist on Albums Charts in countries such as Ireland, Lithuania, Australia and Sweden where his records haven’t been broken since the release of his second mixtape, ‘D-2‘.

The final chapter of Agust D’s Trilogy ruled Apple Music Charts as ‘D-Day‘ became an Album by a

MINSUGAHQ

, 41 #1’s, beating D-2 with 39 #1’s. It also became the Highest-peaking album by a K-Pop Soloist in Germany and the US (tied with D-2).
