BTS to headline first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show

By A.R.M.Y AllKpop 14/05/2026

BTS is set to perform at the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, marking another milestone in the group’s global career.

According to Global Citizen and FIFA on May 14 KST, BTS will appear as a co-headliner at the halftime show taking place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.

This will be the first time a halftime show is officially held during a FIFA World Cup final. FIFA and Global Citizen reportedly planned the event to unite sports, music, and culture on a global stage.

BTS will share the spotlight with legendary artists Madonna and Shakira as co-headliners for the historic performance.

Through its agency, BTS shared, “It is a great honor to stand on a meaningful stage where the world comes together. We believe music is a universal language that delivers hope and unity. It is even more meaningful to share that message with global viewers through the World Cup while supporting expanded educational opportunities for children.”

Global Citizen, an international advocacy organization focused on ending extreme poverty, will produce the halftime show. The event will also support campaigns related to climate change, global health, and educational opportunities.

The performance will be broadcast live worldwide, with Chris Martin of Coldplay serving as curator for the show.

Coldplay additionally stated through social media that donations raised through the halftime show would support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, helping provide quality education and access to football for children around the world.

BTS has maintained a longstanding relationship with Global Citizen, previously appearing as a full group at the 2021 Global Citizen Live event, while Jungkook performed at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival. Jungkook also participated in the official soundtrack “Dreamers” for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and performed at its opening ceremony.
