Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, has achieved a major streaming milestone on Spotify.
Taehyung’s debut solo album ‘Layover’ surpassed a total of 500 million streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.
This milestone was reached in just 33 days since the album’s release, making ‘Layover’ the fastest album by a K-pop soloist to surpass 500 million streams on Spotify.

In addition, ‘Layover’ is also the fastest album released this year by a K-pop act to hit the milestone, surpassing NewJeans’ 2nd EP ‘Get Up.’

Released on September 8th, ‘Layover,’ which reflects Taehyung’s personal taste in art, achieved numerous impressive records, including becoming the first K-pop solo album to surpass 2 million copies sold and 100 million streams on Spotify in its first week.
The album also made history by having all of its tracks debut on Spotify’s global weekly chart, a first for a K-pop solo album.

The prominent British music magazine NME praised the album, highlighting its seamless blending of classic music elements with modern sounds and Taehyung’s distinctive vocal style, resulting in modern sophistication.
NME also noted that Taehyung made artistic choices rather than chasing commercial success, as the album does not conform to popular music trends.
