BTS’s Jungkook’s “Seven” Ties Record For Most Weeks At No. 1 On Billboard Global 200 Of Any Song By Korean Act

By BTS LIVE 16/08/2023

BTS’s Jungkook shows no signs of slowing down on the Billboard charts!

Last month, Jungkook made history as the first Korean soloist to simultaneously debut a song at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Global 200, and Global Excl. U.S. chart when his solo single “Seven” (featuring Latto) entered all three charts at No. 1.

To add to that achievement, “Seven” has now tied an impressive record held by BTS’s “Dynamite.” For the week ending on August 19, “Seven” spent its fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, making Jungkook the first Korean solo artist to top either chart for four weeks.

Notably, “Seven” and “Dynamite” are now the only two songs by a Korean artist ever to spend four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200.

“Seven” also climbed back up Billboard’s Hot 100 (its weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States) in its fourth week on the chart: for the week ending on August 19, “Seven” rose to No. 28. Jungkook is only the second Korean solo artist to spend four consecutive weeks in the top 30, and he is the first to do since PSY in 2012 (with “Gangnam Style“).

Additionally, Billboard reports that “Seven” is the first song in the history of the Global Excl. U.S. chart (which was first launched in September 2020) to premiere with four consecutive weeks of over 100 million weekly streams outside the United States. According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), “Seven” racked up 101.9 million streams outside the United States in its fourth week.

Meanwhile, back stateside, “Seven” broke the top 20 of Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, which measures weekly plays on mainstream Top 40 radio stations across the United States. In its fourth consecutive week on the chart, the song rose to a new peak of No. 19.

Congratulations to Jungkook on his historic achievements!
