Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, continues to excel in the military.
On January 16, both Taehyung and RM were selected as two of the six ‘elite trainees’ of the ’27th Recruit Training Regiment’ out of the 200 trainees, and they were awarded for their exemplary skills during the five-week training period.
Taehyung appeared slightly larger than his slim figure last month, bringing to mind his goal to bulk up from 61kg to 85kg while in service.
Their enlistment began on December 11, 2023, and since then, they have undergone basic military training before being assigned to their designated units in the military.
Fans were beyond proud of their accomplishment, since according to the guidelines outlined in the Nonsan Training Center, the criteria to be chosen as an elite trainee include:
- Curl-ups: more than 86 in 2minutes
- Push-ups: more than 72 in 2 minutes
- Run 1.5 km within 5 minutes and 28 seconds
- Run 3 km within 12 minutes and 30 seconds
- Zero-point shooting 16 shots out of 20
Before enlisting, Taehyung went viral when it was revealed that he is one of the few K-pop idols to date who applied and got accepted to the Special Duty Team, an elite counter-terrorism unit known for its rigorous training.
However, before transferring to the Special Forces, he will undergo an additional 3 weeks of training at the Army General Administration School from January 18 to February 8.
During the award ceremony, he maintained a serious expression until he was joined by his parents while receiving the award, at which point he couldn’t help but break into a smile.
Numerous videos and pictures from the graduation ceremony became viral on social media, shared by the families of other trainees.
