Comeback Spoiler? — BTS Jungkook’s Global Citizen Festival Rehearsal Creates Anticipation

BTS‘s Jungkook is gearing up to co-headline the 2023 Global Citizen Festival on September 23 in New York City. Ahead of this legendary performance, ARMYs believe they might have just received a major spoiler.

After Jungkook’s solo debut single “Seven” became a global hit, smashing charts everywhere, the anticipation surrounding a full album from him grew even higher. The singer also expressed his wish to put out more solo music and an album by November on Suchwita.

While Jungkook never really gave a time bracket for when to expect his new musical endeavor, ARMYs have been speculating that he might be working on something based solely on a video. The video in question was from when he went to dinner with HYBE‘s chairman, Bang Si Hyuk, and the members of his junior group, TXT, after the MTV Video Music Awards. 

Bang posted videos of them celebrating TXT member Yeonjun‘s birthday, and when the camera pointed at Jungkook, he made a gesture showing three fingers with a smug look on his face. The video’s caption mentioned that there was a massive spoiler in it, and ARMYs guessed that it had something to do with the number three.

Now, it looks like those speculations might have been right. Jungkook arrived in New York on September 21 (KST) for the Global Citizen Festival. A day before the actual performance, he took the stage to rehearse his setlist while some fans were present at the venue, Central Park. They caught glimpses of Jungkook rehearsing unexpected tracks like “Permission to Dance” and “Still With You.”

During the rehearsal, some VCRs were played on the screen, including a teaser-like video. It was a montage of Jungkook in a fresh new look, ending with the text “3D” on screen.

ARMYs are getting increasingly convinced that the VCR is a comeback announcement of soloist Jungkook. They feel that the “three” gesture he did in Bang’s video and the 3-D glitch effect he used in his TikToks were all hints. But they are unsure whether it will be another single or his debut album.

The real answers will arrive in less than 24 hours!
