CORTIS member Keonho shared the story of how he was street cast while sitting at a bus stop.
On February 10, episode 126 of the web variety show ‘SalonDrip’ by TEO featured CORTIS leader Martin and youngest member Keonho as guests. Martin and Keonho, who both have older sisters and say they were heavily influenced by them, looked back on how they were first cast. Keonho said, “I was cast when I was in third grade in elementary school. I was really focused on swimming at the time.”
Host Jang Do Yeon noted that he had won many medals in swimming and asked about the exact situation. Keonho explained, “I was sitting at a bus stop when someone asked me, ‘Do you know BTS?’ At first, I didn’t pay much attention. Then I received a business card from Big Hit Entertainment. As soon as I contacted my mom, she and my older sister were extremely excited. ‘Our son, at Big Hit?’ Until then, I had been thinking a lot. I felt like I was at a crossroads between two paths.”
When Jang Do Yeon asked, “Wouldn’t that be a completely different path from just swimming?” Keonho replied, “That’s why I learned how to dance from my older sister. She did ballet and a lot of broadcast dance. The very first song I learned was “Gangnam Style.” Later, it was “Dynamite.”” He highlighted his sister’s influence.
Martin, surprised, said, “What’s interesting is I didn’t know this, but I also learned how to dance from my older sister. There were songs by our seniors TWICE, and also by Girls’ Generation,” forming a point of connection with Keonho.
Keonho added with a laugh, “I think I might be better than my sister now,” suggesting he may dance better than her. When Jang Do Yeon asked, “Don’t your sisters tell you not to forget it’s thanks to them?” both Martin and Keonho answered in unison, “They say that a lot,” drawing laughter on set.
