Fans and netizens react to the news of Jimin's brand ambassadorship deal with Tiffany & Co.

Jimin has been termed the king of brand reputation in South Korea for dominating this ranking over the past 3 years. He is the first and only idol to rank at #1 in brand reputation ranking for individual boy group members for 35 consecutive months (as of Nov. 2022) and 46 months overall (as of Feb. 2023). He is also the first and only idol to rank #1 in brand reputation for Top 100 Idols (Male and Female combined) for 22 months overall as of the latest ranking released in Jan. 2023.

Notably, brand reputation is a measure of the general public’s perception of an idol based on various indexes, and it helps to determine the marketability of an idol in the South Korean market. It also influences various factors, such as brand endorsement deals. As such, idols who rank high on this ranking have a higher likelihood of landing brand ambassadorship deals with top corporations, and this is exactly what Jimin has demonstrated since he started solo activities.

It has been just over a month since Jimin was named the latest addition to French luxury fashion brand Dior’s Global Ambassadors, making him the First Asian Male to ever hold such a position in this giant corporation in the luxury fashion world, and the first BTS member to land a luxury fashion brand deal [read here].

Now, Jimin has landed yet another brand ambassadorship deal with another luxury brand. On Mar. 2, the New York-based designer/luxury jewelry company Tiffany & Co. named him as the newest Global House Ambassador through social media and on the company’s website. He is now the only BTS member with two brand deals, and both are luxury brands.

In the announcement posts, Jimin was seen wearing 3 bracelet pieces from the brand’s Lock Collection, costing $10,000, $14,000, and $34,000, respectively.

These high price tags on the items are a reflection of the high value of the brand. In fact, numerous industry reports have ranked the company as the #1 brand in the luxury jewelry market segment [refer here , here, and here for the different reports].

This piece of news and the weight it carries in terms of the acknowledgment of Jimin’s impact by such a top company, absolutely exhilarated fans who were extremely proud of him.

Their excitement was too hard to contain, so much so that the announcement Tweet by the brand reached 100k likes in just an hour and 14 minutes, which also made it the most liked and retweeted tweet ever on the brand’s Twitter page! This is the same thing that happened with Dior’s announcement posts both on Twitter and Instagram as well. The tweet by WWD about the partnership is also ranking among the world’s most popular tweets having surpassed 100k likes in just a few hours as well.

Jimin’s phenomenal impact is undeniable, as seen from these incidents.

According to a press release by Tiffany & Co., Jimin is known for his unique style and worldwide influence, which made him the perfect ambassador for the brand. His role as a Global House Ambassador will see him attend company events and participate in campaign ads, among other activities.

On his side, Jimin said that “it is a great honor to partner with Tiffany and embody the values of a brand that has the passion for design, innovation and artistry.”

Tiffany & Co. only follows 19 accounts on Instagram, one of which is now Jimin’s individual account. Of note is that the only individuals that the brand follows are Global ambassadors of the brand.
