Former After School member Jooyeon shared candid stories about her past popularity and experiences receiving attention from male idols.
On the April 18 broadcast of MBC’s entertainment program ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere,’ Lee Jooyeon appeared alongside comedian Yang Sang Guk, drawing viewers’ attention with her honest and nostalgic remarks.
During the episode, Lee reflected on her early school days and sudden rise to fame as one of the “Top 5 internet beauties.” She explained, “In middle school, I was just an ordinary student. Because my eyesight was poor, I used to wear thick glasses. But in high school, I started wearing circle lenses.”
She continued, “Right after that, I suddenly became much more noticeable and received a level of attention I had never experienced before. Looking back now, I think I should have enjoyed it more. I kind of wish people would look at me like that again.”
Lee also recalled how she entered the entertainment industry, saying she first started as a magazine model. “There were casting agents in front of my school. At some point, I found myself dancing, and I thought maybe it was destiny,” she said.
The MCs then asked whether she had been popular among male idols during her After School promotions, suggesting she must have received many confessions or advances. Lee hesitated before admitting, “I think I’ll get criticized for saying this, but yes. There was at least one member from almost every male idol group who showed interest.” She added that it wasn’t only her experience, noting that other members of After School also received similar attention at the time.
Meanwhile, Yang Sang Guk brought humor to the show, joking about his sudden rise in popularity and online attention. Host Jun Hyun Moo also highlighted his unexpected public interest, sharing that Yang once topped search rankings even on a day when BTS was performing in Seoul.
Jeon further commented on Yang’s appearance, saying, “Seeing him in person for the first time, he looks very handsome.” Yang responded playfully, stating his height is 185cm and insisting he is not as skinny as people assume, adding humor to the studio atmosphere.
The episode delivered a mix of nostalgia, candid confessions, and lighthearted banter, keeping viewers engaged throughout.
