Speculation surrounding a breakup between top stars IU and Lee Jong Suk appears to be unfounded.
According to OSEN on May 20, singer-actress IU and actor Lee Jong Suk are still in a stable and affectionate relationship, now entering their third year together.
An insider told OSEN, “IU and Lee Jong Suk are still doing well,” firmly denying recent breakup rumors that have surfaced multiple times over the years.
The couple publicly acknowledged their relationship in December 2022 and have since maintained a quiet, yet steady, romance. Lee Jong Suk has been spotted attending IU’s concerts, and both have made subtle mentions of each other in public appearances, further confirming their ongoing bond.
However, recent rumors gained traction after IU was reportedly seen dining at a high-end restaurant with BTS’s V on her birthday, May 16. The speculation intensified when she also shared a photo taken with close friend Kang Han-na on the same day.
It was later revealed that the dinner gathering included friends and took place at chef Ahn Sung Jae’s restaurant. IU and V, known to have formed a friendship while filming a past music video together, were simply part of a casual get-together with mutual acquaintances.
Concerns about a potential breakup were also fueled by Lee Jong Suk’s upcoming long-term overseas filming schedule for his next project, ‘The Remarried Empress.’ Some speculated that the distance might strain the couple’s relationship. However, the insider reassured fans, saying the two remain close and continue to meet despite their busy schedules.
Meanwhile, IU is set to release her third remake album, ‘The 3rd Remake Album,’ on May 27, marking her official return to music activities. Lee Jong Suk is preparing for his roles in the upcoming tvN drama ‘Seochodong’ and the much-anticipated series ‘The Remarried Empress.’
