Jimin continues to leave his mark on the global music scene as a soloist having recently achieved unprecedented feats in some of the top music markets globally, namely USA, which is ranked 1st, and Canada, which is ranked 8th as per the data released in March 2023:
The fact that the song is still reaching new milestones of such huge significance 10 months after release is a testament to his work’s popularity and demand, which also reflects his refined and seasoned artistry alongside his hard work and passion for music, all of which have a hand in the great music he has put out.
On January 11, his lead single ‘Like Crazy‘ for his solo debut album was officially certified Platinum by Music Canada (formerly known as the Canadian Recording Industry Association, CRIA) for exceeding 80,000 sales units in the country. This made it the first Korean solo song to attain a Platinum certification in Canada this decade. Overall, ‘Like Crazy is the second Korean solo song to attain this feat only behind Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’.
Jimin now becomes the only Asian solo artist in history to achieve all of these six feats simultaneously:
- Billboard Hot 100 #1
- Billboard Artist 100 #1
- Billboard Japan Artist 100 #1
- Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) Platinum Certification
- Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Platinum Certification
- Music Canada Platinum Certification
Notably, Jimin remains the only Korean/K-pop soloist to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a solo song, while ‘Like Crazy’ remains the only Korean solo song to reach #1 on the same chart. Additionally, Jimin is also the only Korean solo artist in history to reach #1 on Billboard Artist 100 as well as Billboard Japan Artist 100.
It is also worth noting that ‘Like Crazy’ was the first 2023 song by a Korean/K-pop soloist, and the fastest song by a Korean solo artist to be eligible for an RIAA certification.

With such major milestones, it is no surprise that ‘Like Crazy’ ended the year as the best selling download of 2023 by a Korean/K-pop act in the USA.
For an artist to achieve all these records with his first album, which also happens to be non-English, is only a dream for many artists and thus demonstrates the strong and unrivaled impact that Jimin has had as a solo artist.
In other news further depicting Jimin’s success in the world’s largest music market, the USA, his latest single ‘Closer Than This‘ debuted at #1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart on its first week of release, a chart that ranks the best selling songs in the USA each week.
This became Jimin’s 5th #1 hit on the chart, which placed him in a tie as one of the two Korean solo artists with the most #1 hits on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart in history.
