The USA Billboard Hot 100 is considered one of the most significant and most competitive singles charts in the world. Each week, it ranks the top 100 singles in the world’s largest music market by weighing a song’s streams, sales and radio play garnered within the week long tracking period. As such, artists and music consumers alike, will generally consider a song release to be a hit or a success and to be well received by the general public, if it ranks among these top 100 ‘hot’ songs of the week. Thus, ranking on this chart is a big deal and a big accomplishment for artists, making it something that they all covet.
Jimin has been making waves in the music world as a soloist, writing major history on this same world’s most important singles chart. On releasing his pre-release track ‘Set Me Free. Pt.2‘, he ranked #30, becoming the highest ranking Korean solo artist on the chart this decade. A week later, he released ‘Like Crazy’ where he peaked at #1, becoming the first and only Korean solo artist in history, and the 2nd Asian soloist in the past 60 years, to rank #1 on the chart. He then went on to stay on the chart for 5 weeks with ‘Like Crazy’ becoming the longest charting Korean solo artist this decade on the chart. On releasing his first western collaboration ‘Angel Pt.1′ he again entered the chart at #65 to become the fastest Korean solo artist to debut 4 songs on the Hot 100 chart, having taken just 4 months.
Then ‘Angel Pt.2‘ release followed, which served as a remix for ‘Angel Pt.1’ and he re-entered the chart at #96 with ‘Angel Pt.1’ for a 2nd week.
This made Jimin the first and only Korean solo artist in the past decade to have multiple (2) songs rank on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for multiple weeks!
Overall, Jimin now has 9 total weeks on the chart as a soloist. Numerous media outlets reported on this huge milestone, mentioning how he has been able to achieve such big feats within less than 6 months
