To add to the already extensive list of accolades garnered in the course of his official solo debut era, Jimin has yet again set three splendid new records on major music streaming platforms and on some of the most coveted music charts by artists globally. All three records are thanks to his hit lead single ‘Like Crazy‘, whose record-breaking streak has been unstoppable all year since its release. Spotify happens to be the world’s #1 music streaming platform by number of users, whereas Billboard charts contribute to some of the most prestigious music awards in the music industry. Thus, these records portray the massive popularity and demand for Jimin’s music around the world.
On March 25, ‘Like Crazy’ spent its 365th day on Spotify’s Global Daily Top Songs chart, a chart that ranks the Top 200 most streamed songs worldwide every day. This day happened to be the first anniversary of the song’s release too, meaning that it has consistently been on this chart as one of the most streamed songs globally each day ever since its release, which became a new record for Jimin! “Like Crazy” now holds the record as the first and only song by a Korean or K-pop solo artist in history to spend a full year on Spotify’s Global Daily Top Songs chart.
Overall, it is the fourth song by a Korean or K-pop Act (the first three being group songs) as well as by an Asian soloist to complete an entire year on the chart.
In the 365 days it spent on the said chart, ‘Like Crazy’ spent 172 days in the Top 50, making it the longest charting solo song by a Korean or K-pop solo artist in the Top 50 of Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart.
Looking at Billboard charts as of the latest update on March 26, ‘Like Crazy’ has also completed a full 52 weeks (one full year) on two of the top Billboard charts, the Global 200 and Global (Excl. US), which rank the top-performing songs around the world on a weekly basis.
In both cases, ‘Like Crazy’ yet again sets new records as it becomes the first and only song by a Korean or K-pop solo artist in history to spend an entire year on the Billboard Global 200 as well as Billboard Global (Excl.US) charts.
Jimin’s album ‘FACE’ also spent its 46th week on the Billboard World Albums chart to extend its record as the longest charting album by a Korean or K-pop solo artist in the history of the chart.
Fans are beyond proud to witness such success, especially considering that Jimin’s solo debut did not use boosting tools like playlisting, radio plays, or ads.
Congratulations Jimin!
