Broadcaster Lee Jin Ho appeared at a police station after confessing to illegal gambling.
Broadcaster Lee Jin Ho, who recently admitted to illegal gambling, appeared at the Gangnam Police Station on the afternoon of October 22nd KST for questioning. Lee, facing charges of habitual gambling and fraud, arrived at 1:55 PM and offered a brief apology, saying, “I’m sorry.”
When reporters asked him about the reasons behind his gambling addiction and whether he had anything to say to the celebrity victims, Lee remained silent. He added only, “I’m sorry. I will cooperate fully with the investigation,” before entering the station.
On October 14th KST, Lee publicly admitted on social media that he had accumulated significant debt through illegal internet gambling. Reports soon followed, revealing that celebrities such as BTS’s Jimin and comedian Lee Soo Geun had lent Lee large sums of money, which had not been repaid. The total amount owed is believed to be around 2.3 billion won ($1.7 million), including 1 billion won from fellow celebrities and acquaintances.
A formal complaint was filed through the National Petition System on October 14th, accusing Lee of fraud and habitual gambling. Eight days later, Lee appeared at the police station for questioning.
