Singer Roy Kim made a comeback eight months after his last release with the single “WE GO HIGH” on June 19. During one of the promotional activities, the singer revealed that the track was originally meant for BTS’s maknae Jungkook.
On June 26, Roy Kim appeared as a special guest on KBS CoolFM’s Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show. While talking about his latest release, he admitted that while writing the song, he had BTS’s Jungkook in mind and not himself as the artist. But upon his company’s insistence, Roy Kim decided to record the song himself.
Since it’s summer, my company suggested that I release an exciting song. There’s a song I wrote when thinking about Jungkook. When I played it for the company, they said, ‘You sing it’, so I ended up releasing the song.

Host Park Myung Soo complemented the refreshing melody of the song and said that Jungkook’s voice would have fitted it perfectly. When he asked Roy Kim if the BTS member would be up to singing it if he approached him, Kim answered that he was not certain about it since Jungkook possibly gets a lot of songs from composers all over the workd. He also mentioned that he is not acquainted with Jungkook personally but has “seen him at many public events.”
Since he is also working overseas, he must be receiving many songs from foreign composers. In the past, Jungkook had covered my song once. So, I keep watching him with an even more grateful heart.

Since Roy Kim mentioned the BTS member getting songs from foreign producers, Park Myung Soo mentioned Jin, saying that after a conversation with him, he realized “world stars” like BTS are busier than one can imagine.
Jin appeared on Park’s YouTube show Hal Myung Soo and exchanged contacts with the host. But Jin also confessed to Park that he might not be very prompt with his responses since he receives around 3,000 messages every day.
Jin told me, ‘Even if you call me, I might not be able to answer it’. He receives 3000 messages in English every day. I realized that global stars are really on a different level…Coldplay and other global artists reach out to Jin. But he thanked me and said, ‘Please understand even if I read your message late.’
