CNBLUE‘s leader Jung Yonghwa was the most recent guest on BTS Suga‘s talk show Suchwita, and during the episode, they discussed the early days of their careers, touring, songwriting, their love for their fans, and more.
During the episode, they also discussed when BTS and Yonghwa first met, which was during BTS’s “I Need U” promotions and Yonghwa’s promotions for his solo debut single, “One Fine Day.”
Yonghwa explained that he was feeling lonely promoting by himself, so he went backstage and came across BTS.
BTS caught his attention, as their promotions often overlapped, and he felt there was “something different” about the group that he predicted would make them a success.
He remembered his junior group being “very friendly” and quickly striking up a friendship with Jimin and Jungkook after they introduced themselves as being from Busan, where Yonghwa spent the majority of his childhood.
Yonghwa recalled playing basketball against Suga on Idol Star Athletics Championships, which allowed them to spend more time together and become closer.
While reminiscing about the past, Yonghwa revealed one memory that stood out to him, and it was something he felt really grateful for.
In 2016, Yonghwa released a collaboration song, “Hello,” with singer-songwriter Sunwoo JungA. After releasing the song, the BTS members cheered him on, complimenting his music and his 2015 solo release, “One Fine Day.”
Yonghwa admitted that he had felt “a lot of pressure” at the time, he felt he was “lacking” and wanted to be recognized for his music. Because he was going through a difficult time, BTS’s compliments about his music and words of encouragement meant even more to him.
BTS is known for how friendly they are with senior and junior artists, and it seems they’ve left a lasting impact on Yonghwa!
