Billboard recently announced a brand new music chart created in collaboration with Twitter data. This chart is called Billboard Hot Trending Songs – ranking the song based on tracking conversations about the song and related trends on a global scale via Twitter.
The chart can be updated every 24 hours and every 7 days. And a weekly version of the chart will also have a tracking time from last Friday to next Thursday – similar to Billboard’s other music charts and will also be published on Billboard.com.
The special feature of this chart is that it will track the popularity of songs based on what people are talking about instead of what they are listening to. This will also highlight songs that are trending, either at awards ceremonies, or carnival events, or a throwback event etc.
We need to be aware of this. that this chart does not discriminate against any music genre or country. However, with Kpop fans using Twitter so strongly, this chart will soon become an underground competition between Kpop fandoms.
On November 9 (US time), Billboard announced the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart for the third week. Compared to last week , this week’s chart has witnessed a lot of changes as well as new songs. Let’s follow the Top 10 of this chart below (the week until the end of November 13).

Thus, BTS ‘ ‘Butter’ continues to hold No.1 on the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart. Accordingly, the song recorded up to 7 million mentions on Twitter during the tracking week from October 29 to November 5, an increase of 157% compared to the previous week.
The increase in fan mentions of the song on Twitter is still largely due to the fact that on October 28, “Butter” was nominated for the ‘Favorite Pop Song’ category at the American Music Awards. So up to now, BTS has been leading for 3 consecutive weeks since this chart was born (first week with ‘Permission to Dance’, 2 weeks later with ‘Butter’.)
Standing in second place this week is still SEVENTEEN with 1.5 million mentions on Twitter, although it is too far behind at the top, this number is still enough to help the group Pledis not be downgraded.
Meanwhile, Thai male singer and actor Mew Suppasit rose to 4 places on the chart to close the top 3 this week when the song ‘Spaceman’ recorded 1.2 million mentions. Meanwhile, Lisa (BLACKPINK) is the only female representative in the top when this week aespa has left the TOP 10.
