BTS’ SUGA shocks fans by completing 12km marathon before Stanford concert

BTS member SUGA is drawing attention after it was revealed that he completed a 12-kilometer marathon on the same day as the group’s recent concert at Stanford Stadium.

According to a recent report by the San Francisco Chronicle, SUGA participated in the famous Bay to Breakers race held in San Francisco on May 17 local time.

“Bay to Breakers”
is one of the United States’ most iconic long-distance races, first established in 1912. The annual 12km course stretches across San Francisco and is particularly known for its steep uphill sections and challenging terrain.

According to the report, SUGA completed the race in 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 43 seconds, maintaining an average pace of 8 minutes and 41 seconds per mile. Among 20,530 participants, he reportedly ranked 1,022nd overall, placing him within the top five percent of runners.

What surprised fans even more was the fact that Suga completed the marathon before joining BTS onstage later that evening for the group’s world tour concert at Stanford Stadium.

Although he performed energetically throughout the show, some fans noticed he appeared to have slight difficulty with his legs toward the end of the concert. Many later realized it was likely the aftereffect of the marathon, leaving fans stunned by his stamina and dedication.

The story was later discussed directly by BTS members during a post-concert Weverse livestream.

V shared, “Yoongi-hyung said he wanted to lose weight, and he’s been running really hard. He ran 10 kilometers every day.”

Meanwhile, Jimin revealed, “He woke up at 6 AM on the day of the concert to participate in the famous marathon. Before the encore stage, his calves were so swollen that he was limping. We were really worried about him.”
