BTS ignites Mexico City with sold-out stadium concerts

By A.R.M.Y AllKpop 12/05/2026

BTS heated up Mexico City with sold-out concerts that turned the city into a sea of purple.

From May 7 and May 9–10 local time, BTS held their ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN MEXICO CITY’ at Estadio GNP Seguros, performing for approximately 150,000 fans across three nights.

The concerts marked BTS’ first full-group solo performances in Mexico in nearly 10 years and 10 months since July 2015. All three shows sold out immediately after tickets went on sale.

During the performances, BTS captivated audiences with powerful live vocals and synchronized choreography. Fans passionately sang along to Korean lyrics word-for-word, creating unforgettable scenes inside the stadium.

One of the most memorable moments came during Airplane pt.2, which contains the lyric “We goin’ from Mexico City.” BTS reportedly selected the song spontaneously during a special request segment, drawing explosive cheers from the crowd.

The group also incorporated elements of Mexican culture into the performances. During Aliens, dancers appeared wearing traditional Mexican lucha libre masks, while V attracted attention after enjoying the local snack banderilla during the performance of “IDOL”. Clips quickly spread across social media.

The members expressed gratitude to fans, saying, “You were truly amazing. What more can we say? We will definitely return to Mexico.” They also thanked audiences in Spanish and said they would never forget the excitement that began at Zócalo.

The excitement extended beyond the venue itself. Local authorities estimated that around 35,000 additional fans gathered outside the stadium during the second and third concert days, leading to temporary traffic control in nearby areas.

According to the Los Angeles Times, more than one million people reportedly attempted to purchase tickets, highlighting BTS’ extraordinary influence. The outlet also noted that the group’s visit became a diplomatic-level event after an official invitation from the Mexican presidential office.

The concerts also drew attention for their economic impact, often referred to as “BTSnomics.” The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce estimated the shows would generate approximately 107.5 million USD (approximately 158.6 billion KRW) in economic effects through ticket sales, tourism, hotels, dining, and local spending.

BTS will continue the tour with upcoming performances on May 16–17 and May 19 at Stanford Stadium. Ahead of the concerts, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority announced special bus services to accommodate fans traveling to the venue.
