BTS are putting the ‘NORMAL’ music video on Spotify on July 17 at 1 PM KST, and Big Hit Music confirmed on July 16 that three new versions of the track arrive at the same time, including a Korean version and an instrumental.
The MV stays a Spotify exclusive for two days, then goes up on the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel on July 19 at 1 PM KST. ‘NORMAL’ is a track from the group’s album ‘ARIRANG’.
The teaser that dropped July 16 at midnight KST set the tone: the members line up in a bathroom with their backs to the camera, and RM squeezes his way past them. The label described it as the everyday side of the group rather than the stage side.
The rollout leaned into the joke early. Before the teaser, Big Hit Music ran tabloid-style front page ads in American papers including the New York Post and San Francisco Chronicle, showing all seven members in suits under the headline that they had been spotted in a bathroom during a late night mysterious gathering.
The gap between the song’s serious register and the bathroom concept is the point, and it has been doing its job online since the teaser landed.
