The interview became a hot topic amongst Korean netizens!
On December 13, ARMYs worldwide were very emotional after watching BTS‘s Jin become the first member of the group to enlist. Unsurprisingly, it was a global event that captured the attention of netizens.
Media outlet CNN gained attention for their interview with Kim Seokjin prior to his enlistment.. but with a plot twist
Although ARMYs weren’t there, they made sure to send support with banners and posters to share their love for Jin.
The first real glimpses of what happened before his enlistment came when BTS shared pictures of all the members together, and it definitely made ARMYs emotional.

Of course, along with fans, the world’s media was covering the huge event, and one of those outlets was CNN. Along with their article covering his enlistment, they even had a reporter at the scene interviewing people.
Yet, there was a plot twist in the story… as it wasn’t actually BTS’s Jin.
In the interview, CNN actually spoke to a 20-year-old Kim Seokjin, who was among the conscripts who would be joining the same division as the idol. Of course, the hilarious part was that not only was he also joining the 5th Infantry Division Tuesday, but he had the same full name as BTS’s Jin.
In the interview, the young recruit explained how nervous he was about the whole experience but added, “But I’m excited too to go in with Jin,” and then added that he hoped they might become friends.
Of course, when the interview was shared, it immediately caught the attention of Korean netizens who couldn’t get over how funny it was.
Not only did CNN send a reporter to cover Jin’s enlistment, but they also didn’t know how they’d hit the jackpot by finding someone enlisting in the same division with the same name.

Of course, CNN seemed to be at the perfect place at the perfect time to find Kim Seokjin to interview on the same day as BTS’s Jin enlisted. It was definitely hilarious, and not surprising that Korean netizens found it so funny!
