Gyeongbokgung, one of South Korea’s most symbolic landmarks and significant tourist attractions, will be closed to ordinary visitors on Saturday, March 21 KST, in light of BTS’s comeback live show, ‘ARIRANG‘.
The comeback live show is scheduled to take place on March 21 at 8 PM KST at Gywanghwamun Square, an open outdoor event space directly in front of Gyeongbokgung. Police have estimated that approximately 260,000 fans will gather for the massive scale comeback show.
In preparation for the heavy crowd, nearby landmarks such as the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts will also be closed with performances cancelled or rescheduled.
So far, it’s been reported that BTS will feature shots of Gyeongbokgung and Gwanghwamun as a part of their comeback live, with the stage being set up on the norther side of the square. Based on filming requests filed with the National Heritage Service, the artists will “walk through the three doors of Gwanghwamun and head to the stage” during an opening sequence.
The comeback show will also be streamed live to viewers in over 190 countries exclusively on Netflix, marking the first ever Korea-based event to be streamed live to the world on the streaming platform.
