Korea’s Gaon Music Chart (Gaon Chart) recently announced a large series of the latest official certifications for artists like BTS or Blackpink..
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association (KOMCA) implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and streaming.
On November 10, Gaon Chart announced 11 new albums that received certified album sales. Specifically, albums are certified Platinum after reaching sales of 250,000 copies, while albums that sell 1 million copies or more receive a “million copies” certification.
The only album certified 3 platinum this month is Savage – Aespa’s mini album, released last October.
Twice’s 7th mini-album ” FANCY YOU ” as well as member Nayeon’s first solo album titled IM NAYEON – both achieved 2 Platinum certification. Also winning the 2 Platinum certification are TXT’s mini album The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY and NMIXX ‘s ENTWURF album .
NCT 127’s Regulate album and Red Velvet’s The ReVe Festival: Day 1 have both been certified Platinum.
BTS ‘s Map Of The Soul: 7 album has been certified 5 million copies, becoming the first album in Korean history to sell more than 5 million copies!
Map Of The Soul: 7 released by BTS in 2020, is described as a pop, R&B and hip hop album with influences from contemporary genres such as rock, trap and EDM. Lyrically, it deals with themes of reflection, introspection, and self-acceptance.
Blackpink’s album BORN PINK from the beginning of this year has received a certificate of 2 million copies. Finally, a certificate of 1 million copies was awarded to NCT 127’s album 2 Baddies and TXT’s The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE .
Elsewhere, songs are certified Platinum in the streaming category when they surpass 100 million streams.
