He revealed how he overcame his reservations.
BTS‘s V opened up about how he overcame his reservations after being hurt and used by people to become the social butterfly he is today in an interview with Vogue Korea.
V has earned himself a reputation as a “social butterfly.” He not only has a close bond with all his members in BTS…
But V also has a large number of celebrity friends. He seldom meets a stranger!
V has been friends with several fellow K-Pop idols for years, such as SHINee‘s Minho and f(x)‘s Amber Liu to actors like Park Bo Gum and Lee Jung Jae.

He even starred in reality show Celebrity Bromance alongside actor and rapper Kim Min Jae (also known as Real.be), showcasing their close friendship.
V just draws everyone to him. Even when he’s abroad, Western celebrities fall for him. A couple of recent examples include Lady Gaga and Jon Batiste.

And of course, V is a member of the famous group of friends known as the “Wooga Squad,” consisting of himself, Peakboy, Park Hyung Sik, Park Seo Joon, and Choi Woo Shik. They even recently starred in their own reality series In the SOOP: Friendcation.
Yet, V has struggled to get close to people despite being a self-identified people person. He explained in an interview with Vogue Korea. The interviewer asked him about his reputation as the one to frequently befriend others.
You often initiate contact with other artists. It’s sort of surprising because one would expect a hugely popular celebrity like yourself wouldn’t feel the need to reach out to others beyond the entourage surrounding you. Do you find those new encounters energizing? What do such encounters mean to you?

V revealed that human connection is essential to him. So, whether it’s fellow artists or even a journalist, he enjoys connecting with them.
I cherish human connection. I am a people person and I truly enjoy working with everyone I cross professional paths with, including artists, directors, writers, and journalists like you.
— V
It was not always as easy for him, though. V personally shared how he had been reserved in the past due to being used by others.
In the past, I used to be more reserved because I had been hurt by people who treated me simply as a valuable asset to know and not as a friend.
— V
Despite having been hurt by people, V still enjoys building connections with others. He credits the current people around him as helping him through it.
But I still like people. It is thanks to the wonderful people in my life that I am who I am now.
— V
V is such a loving and friendly person; he deserves to be surrounded by only people who truly respect him for who he really is!
